Barely Artificial just became a two-person operation. Meet the second half.
For the first while, Barely Artificial was one person, twenty-five-plus years of experience, and a lot of late evenings. That's changed.
Steve Beckett has joined as head of business development, and if you get in touch, there's a good chance he's the first person you'll talk to.
He's spent years in senior management roles and running his own businesses, which means he's sat on both sides of the table, buying services and selling them. His instinct is always practical and real-world: what actually helps, not what sounds impressive in a pitch deck.
His job, in plain terms: have the first proper conversation with anyone who gets in touch, work out what they actually need, and make sure it lands with the right arm of the business, consultancy, training or services. Even when the honest answer is "that's not really us, try this instead."
Two people still isn't a big team. It's small enough that you'll always be talking to someone who actually does the work. That's deliberate, and it's not changing just because there are two of us now.
